"Error applying transforms" during StormCAD installation

 Product(s):StormCAD
 Version(s):08.11.02.75
 Area:Installation

Problem

When installing StormCAD, the following error appears:

"Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid."

Problem ID#: 70274

Solution

This error may occur in some rare cases when a previous, older version of StormCAD (such as 08.09.081.00) was previously installed with a modified .mst file. This may happen if the setup file had been tampered with to do an administrative installation in the past.

To resolve this issue, first check the installation log file, which is found in your windows temporary folder. This log file is located in %temp%\StormCADSetupLog.txt (%temp% is a shortcut to the Windows temp folder). Open this file in Notepad and you should notice the name of the .mst file that's causing the error.

Search the registry for the mst file listed in the log file (for example 08.09.081.00.mst). The registry is accessed by going to Start > Run and typing in "regedit", then clicking OK. Search for and remove any entries containing the name of the .mst file. The entries might be located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Installer, but a search od the entire registry is suggested.
