I have hatches in my DGN file that I have exported to a DXF file and when I bring it in as a background file the hatch marks don't display. How can I get them to display?

Hatch marks in a Microstation DGN are not polylines. They are lines that are rendered by the program and displayed for visual purposes. If you want to make these lines polylines so they will show up in your DXF file you will need to use the Microstation "Drop" tool/function which will set the lines as individual polylines. This tool is very similar to the Explode tool/function in AutoCAD.
