Problem

When computing a model, the user receives the following user notification: "Out of range errors encountered during open channel calculations."

The channel referenced in typically an irregular channel.

Solution

Irregular channels use a table of relative elevations when defining the shape of the channel. You enter in a station location and the relative elevation at that point. In PondPack, the first and last stations in the table are required to the same, similar to what is seen in the screenshot below.

If you have different values for the first and last stations in the table, you will get the error message reported. If you change the station elevations so the first and last station have the same elevation, the issue will not occur. Note that if the Left Bank Station and the Right Bank Station are not at the beginning or end of the irregular channel, these elevations do not need to be identical.
