When computing a model I notice that I getting reverse flow in conduit where there should not be reverse flow? How can I correct this?
When computing a model, there is reverse flow through a pipe with a check valve applied to it. The orientation of the check valve is correct
and there are no user notifications. How can this issue be resolved?
Problem ID#: 83639
This issue may be resolved by going into the calculation options (Analysis > Calculation Options) and setting the property for "Correct for partial Area Effect?" to True. What this option does when set to true is when two or more rational flows enter a single node the GVF Rational solver will adopt the system time that produces the largest rational flow. A larger 'partial area' flow will be carried downstream until the 'total area' flow exceeds it.
Open the properties of the active calculation options. Find the item "Engine Compatibility" and change this to "WaterGEMS 2.00.12" or "WaterGEMS 2.2.0".
If there are demands on the downstream side of the check valve and there is no other water supply to meet the demands this can occur. This is normal behavior because the demands in a network must be satisfied. If there is another route to satisfy the demands on the downstream side of the junction this shouldn't occur.
