Problem

How can I view pipe wall thickness in table form?

Solution

If you'd like to see the wall thickness in the pipe properties or in table form (pipe flextable), you will need to add the field using the User Data Extensions tool. Go to Tools > User Data Extensions, Create a new field under Pipe (naming it "Wall thickness" for example), then choose either Integer or Real as the Data type. Choosing "Real" allows you to add units (such as mm. or in.) You can also choose to categorize your new field under the Physical section if you'd like, and change the order so that it appears next to the diameter, if desired.

Once created, you can then view and populate your user defined wall thickness field with appropriate values. For example you could execute a query to retrieve pipes of a certain diameter, right click in the drawing, choose Edit Group, choose the Pipe flextable, then add and global edit the new thickness field to the desired value for that diameter.

Note: wall thickness effects the minimum and maximum pressure that the pipe can withstand during a transient condition. Contact the manufacturer for specifications and compare to the min and max calculated pressure during the transient simulation.
