What is the Design point / 1-point / single point pump curve type used for, and how is the curve calculated? (shutoff head and the max operating flow)
The one point design pump curve defines a pump curve based upon a single "design" point (pair of head and flow). It can be used for entering pump data when estimating a pump curve or when there is little information about the pump curve. For example, when testing new pumps for a system and when minimal information is available for the pump. This type of pump should be used for preliminary designs only and should not be used for final analysis.
From this point, the curve's interception with the head and discharge axes is computed as Ho = 1.33·Hd and Qo = 2.00·Qd.
