Problem

I am getting ERROR 119: invalid cross section for Link <link_name> while using the Explicit (SWMM) solver.  Why is this and how do I fix it?

Solution

This error can occur for a channel curve if the specified elevation vs. width curve is incorrect. The Elevation (Relative) should be entered in an increasing order, starting from the bottom to the top and the widths to be entered against it. For example; if you want to define a cross-section of 3 m depth then the sequence of elevations can be 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3. If the order is random or otherwise non-increasing, then this error will show up even though the corresponding widths are correct.

The correct sequence would look like this;

This error may occur in conjunction with ERROR 171, where there are repeated values in elevation.
