How can I model an area inlet with curb openings on each side? Example 4 way area inlet below:
Area inlets such as this one do not conform to the HEC-22 standard inlet types.
If the inlet is in sag, you could use the "gutter depth vs. captured flow" catalog inlet type to model the depth/flow relationship, but you still will not be able to use it with a trapezoidal gutter shape, as that only supports the ditch and grate inlet types.
Consider using a curb inlet type with curb length set to the sum of the lengths of the openings on the four sides, in conjunction with the "conventional" gutter shape to model the slope on the side of the inlet perpendicular to the flow direction. The resulting spread would be the spread extending from one side, so you'd have to double it and add the width of the structure, to get the total top-width spread. This would get tricky if one side slope was greater than the other.
