The Network Connectivity Reviewer tool is available starting with CONNECT edition update 2. It can be used to check the connectivity in networks and subnetworks.
When using the Network Connectivity Reviewer, you can check for connectivity issues (such as disconnected elements) in your model quickly, which will save you time. Also there are features like selecting upstream or downstream elements of a selected elements so you know if there is any disconnection in the subnetwork. It can also display flow direction for links as per the start and stop nodes which can help in identifying links with adverse slopes.
The tool can be accessed from Tools > Tools > More > Network Connectivity Reviewer, or you can also search in the Ribbon search box.
Generate Disconnected Subnetworks
Using the compute button, you can highlight the number of subnetworks in the the model, which will help you in visualizing the disconnections if any in the model. It will enlist the number of subnetworks in the model, if you double click on any subnetwork it will select elements in the drawing which are part of that subnetwork.
The Highlight button will highlight all the created subnetworks in the model in different colors, for better visualization purpose and for identifying the disconnection in the network. With highlighted subnetworks disconnections in the model can be spotted easily.
Show link directions from link start nodes to stop nodes
This feature will show the directions for link elements from start nodes to stop nodes, which is essential since most of models are drafted by CAD engineers in CAD applications and the modeling engineer may not be aware about start and stop nodes for these links and their direction, so this tool will show the start and stop node direction for the link.
This will help in case of negative or adverse slopes, when start and stop nodes are wrong i.e. not in the direction of flow or ground elevations, so negative slope is calculated. This way you can identify the start and stop nodes direction visually and then correct it from pipe properties using node reversal.
Trace upstream using link directions from link start nodes to stop nodes
This tool will help you in selecting the upstream network of an element in one click. When you click on trace upstream in this tool and then select the start element in the drawing, the tool will highlight all the elements upstream of the selected element in the drawing view. For an upstream trace, the flow direction is assumed to be from the link start node to stop node.
Trace downstream using link directions from link start nodes to stop nodes
This tool will help you in selecting the downstream network of an element in one click. When you click on trace downstream in this tool and then select the start element in the drawing, the tool will highlight all the elements downstream of the selected element in the drawing view. For a downstream trace, the flow direction is assumed to be from the link start node to stop node.
Show connected elements
This tool will highlight all the elements physically connected to the selected elements. This will help you in identifying the physically disconnected nodes in the drawing. If you suspect that disconnected elements lie within a defined area, then you can select the adjacent elements and click on "show connected elements". Any disconnected elements in that subnetwork will not be selected.
