How can I access the old-style java-based transient results viewer in HAMMER? (for more customization options, but with a different look-and-feel)
The Java-based Transient Results Viewer is no longer available in HAMMER starting with version 2026 (26.00.00.XXX and higher). The Java component it relies on is no longer delivered with OpenFlows Water in part for security reasons.
If you are looking for functionality not currently available in the Transient Results Viewer, please submit an idea to our Idea Portal, or search for and vote for an existing idea.
If you are using HAMMER 2024 or earlier...
...you can access the old Results Viewer with the following steps:
1. Close HAMMER.
2. Open Windows Explorer.
3. Go to the folder below that corresponds to the version of HAMMER you are running.
For versions 08.11.XX.XX, go to: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\HAMMER\8\
For versions 10.XX.XX.XX, go to: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\HAMMER\10\
Note: The folders above apply to Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10.
4. Right click on the file named TransientResultsViewerOptions.xml, select "Open with", and choose Notepad.
5. Read the instructions provided at the top of the file. Change the UseNewViewer="Yes" line to UseNewViewer="No" (to always open the old viewer) or change it to "UseNewViewer="Prompt"" (to always ask which style of viewer to use when opening it.) The prompt can be controlled in HAMMER under File > Options > Prompts (button)
*A copy of this file can be downloaded from this link.
If you encounter an "access denied" error when trying to save the file, try this:
1) From your Start menu, type "Wordpad", then right click on the shortcut and choose "Run as Administrator".
2) Click File > Open, then browse to the location mentioned in the article and open the file (you may need to change the dropdown filter to all file types)
3) You should now be able to save the changes and once you make a choice on the prompt, you should see it listed in the "prompts" button.
Note: more recent versions of HAMMER use the OpenJDK version of Java instead of the Sun/Oracle version.
