Problem

When trying to open the software after installation, or when opening the License Tool, one of the following errors occur:

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect."

Solution

This can occur in some cases if one or more Windows components that the software relies on becomes corrupt. On installation, the software will check if the correct version of Microsoft .NET Framework and C++ runtime redistributables are installed. If these components are installed on your computer but either corrupt or missing files, the software will not attempt to reinstall, but may not function properly (causing the error
in question).

To resolve this issue, download the appropriate version of .NET Framework and C++ 2005 redistributable from Microsoft.com and install them. This should force these components to reinstall. The version of
.NET framework required depends on the version of your OpenFlows/Bentley product, but the latest versions require .NET version 4.5.1.
