Problem

At what point does license usage of the OpenFlows product start recording when using a OpenFlows product integrated with MicroStation?

Solution

Starting with the CONNECT Edition of MicroStation (10.XX.XX.XX and higher), OpenFlows product license usage will start when opening a project while using the OpenFlows workspace and the OpenFlows product WorkSet.

Note: MicroStation will automatically select the last used Workspace so if you need to open regular MicroStation after working in an OpenFlows product integrated with MicroStation, you will need to change the WorkSpace from the dropdown at the top (see screenshot above) to your regular MicroStation WorkSpace.

For the older, MicroStation V8i integrated versions, license usage occurs when clicking "Open" in MicroStation's File Open dialog while a user and/or project is set to the OpenFlows product ("WaterGEMS" in the example below). The OpenFlows product is selected as the user/project when you launch the shortcut "<OpenFlows product name> for MicroStation"

Note that when working in the "...for MicroStation" platform, license usage of both the OpenFlows product and MicroStation itself will be recorded.

Note: If you have included OpenFlows product information from the config files into a custom workspace, the OpenFlows product license will apply as well.
