The Data Tool is a feature that appears at the top of any text entity or column entity properties window (or for certain other data dependent entities) in REPORT DESIGN, in DATA DESIGNUser System Data and other places that are "data aware". It also appears in the expression builder window that opens when you click the
button to the right of properties that can hold expressions.
Select Functions, Data Items, Formatting Codes, Math Functions, Constants & Math Operators, and Keyset Fields from the Functions drop-down list. Select the appropriate item from the Items drop-down list, and click the Paste button on the right.
The Table and Field drop-down lists in the Data Tool are populated by assigning a data template to the report. If this data template goes missing you will see the message above. You can edit your report
If you have one data template that you use for cloning all your projects you can assign it to the library. Go to DATA DESIGNProject Database. On the menu bar, click Tools
Assign Data Template to Reports. Click the
button and select your data template. Leave the Report List blank to select all the reports. Check the two boxes to assign it to the Library Tables and to User System Data. Click OK.
If you have more than one data template, you can follow the steps in the previous paragraph, and select which reports to assign to which data template. Or, you can open the properties of a particular report and select the data template there.
