This article discusses how to setup and use a row which reports the calibration information associated with a piece of lab equipment used for testing.
Firstly, ensure that devices have been setup (and calibration details recorded) under Configuration | Equipment:
Note that will be necessary to define the 'Constant' (e.g. "a", "b" or "c" in the example above) or the required parameters for the 'Curve' on the input sheet template, so make a note of these if necessary.
With equipment defined and calibrated the input sheet can be adjusted to report the values. Go to Sheets, select the required Test Definition and sheet (or create a new sheet) and Open:
Ensure the sheet includes 'Data Cells' to allow the user to define the device used and the date of the test:
These will be used as a reference to report the correct calibration information. Next, select the cell required for the start of the Calibration Row, this being applied from the Design | Insert menu:
The row upon which calibration data is reported is then inserted:
It may be useful to create header labels for these cells by coping and pasting them immediately above:
If using this technique, the label cells can be differentiated from the calibration row cells as the latter has an array name, rather than just a cell name (compare the top left corner of the two images above). Adjust the cells within Excel as necessary to make them cosmetically pleasing. The cells on the calibration row will then need further definition to identify the correct device and so report calibration information. Use formulas to pull the Test Date and the Device ID (i.e. the cells highlighed in yellow below) from the reference cells created earlier:
Note that it advisable to apply 'Date' formatting both the 'Test Date' reference and calibration cells.
Specify the correct Device Type, whether Constant/Curve is required and nominate the required Parameter (i.e. the data noted from the Equipment Manager above):
Note that in the above example the Curve Parameter is unused - this can simply be Hidden using Excel without ill effect. If a 'Curve' is specfied the name of the required axis (i.e. that reported as the Result) should be specified as the required Parameter. A point on the other axis should then be nominated as the Curve Parameter:
So, in the example immediately above the reported Result will be the "Mass" recorded at the point where "20" occurs on the other axis in the curve.
If necessary, multiple calibration rows can be inserted into a sheet to report different constants or points along the axis of the graph.
KeyLAB | Design | Close and save the changes to the sheet. When the sheet is then used for testing in the lab the calibration row will appear similar to the state in which it was saved in when designed...
...but will update with the relevant values when the Device ID and Test Date have been specified in the green reference cells:
As the values have been specified in the image immediately above note how the Result calibration cell has now updated.
Note that the calibration row will not update if the Test Date set to a point in time before the first calibration took place.
The Calibration Tables feature will collect all the information in the calibration curve results.
To obtain the curve table you are required to fill in the calibration row, as for the other type of calibration information only change the constant/curve to CurveTable. The result is used as the cell location where the table will be placed.
The date format has to be UK Short date format.
