Introduction

The Advanced Print tool uses print templates that are defined in Bentley Map. Print templates are stored in print templates libraries (DGNLIB files). Once a print templates library has been created in Bentley Map, you should register it in the Bentley Geo Web Publisher Administration program for use with the Advanced Print tool. An Example Print Border Library Borders.dgnlib can be found in the GWP installation folder, the default path is C:\Bentley\GeoWebPublisher\Examples\Data\.

How to create new print borders to be used in the Geo Web Publisher Advanced Print

Bentley Map must be used to create or to update Print Border Libraries. The “Print Preparation Application” is only available with the Bentley Map and Bentley Map Enterprise. Administration Tool — used to define the print templates. The print templates are models in a DGNLIB. A print template includes: viewport definitions, north arrows, text to be replaced at plot time, and any text or graphics that would make up the rest of the customers print border

The general procedure to create a custom border in Bentley Map is:

  1. Create a new print templates library or open an existing one.
  2. Create a new print template.
  3. Set up the print template (sheet size, orientation, print border).
  4. Design the layout of the print template (title block, legend, raster images, tables).
  5. Create viewports.
  6. Add north arrows.
  7. Place text placeholders.
  8. If needed, modify the print template components.
  9. Set the print template properties.
