Problem:

The following message appears in AutoPIPE Vessel while analyzing the model, how to avoid it?

Unexpected error: -1073741682
Please contact technical support and attach this dump file along with the error number.

Solution:

When creating a new project in AutoPIPE Vessel and attempting to run calculations, the analysis may fail and display an unexpected error message from the calculation engine (procal.exe).

Cause:

The issue is caused by an invalid user-defined value in the Wind data input.

Specifically, the parameter z0 (roughness length) is set to 0, which is not a valid value for the selected wind code.

When the calculation engine processes the wind loading data, the invalid value causes the calculation program (procal.exe) to terminate unexpectedly.

Solution:

Verify the Wind loading parameters and ensure that the z0 value is greater than zero.

Steps

    1. Open the model file.
    2. Navigate to Loads > Wind (or open the Wind dialog box).
    3. Locate the z0 field under Site Data.
    4. Check the entered value.
    5. If z0 = 0, replace it with a valid value greater than zero.
    6. The default value is typically 0.05.
    7. Save the model.
    8. Re-run the calculation.
