After performing strength calculation on a model, the following error message in AutoPIPE Vessel appears:
60 STANDARD SHELL FLANGE : Temperature exceeds values for this rating class
66 FLANGE (nozzle XX): Temperature exceeds values for this rating class
Why and How to avoid it?
This error occurs when the design temperature exceeds the maximum allowable temperature permitted for the selected flange material and rating class according to the applicable flange design code.
AutoPIPE Vessel verifies flange pressure-temperature ratings using the selected standard (for example, ASME B16.5). In addition to the pressure-temperature rating tables, the software also considers any material-specific notes, limitations, and temperature restrictions defined by the code.
If the specified design temperature is greater than the allowable temperature range for the selected material or rating class, AutoPIPE Vessel displays the following error:
"Temperature exceeds values for this rating class."
For ASME B16.5 Table 2-2.1, A182 Grade F304 is subject to Note (1), which limits its use to a maximum temperature of 538°C (1000°F). Therefore, if a design temperature of 585°C is specified, AutoPIPE Vessel will generate the error because the material is being used outside its allowable temperature range.
