Q. How to check the pipe loads on pump Suction & Discharge piping?


Answer: 

Start by modeling the Hot Pump as a RIGID Pipe (shown in purple in the image below) that heats up and expands. Then consider using either AutoPIPE's Reference Points at the Suction and Discharge nozzles and/or AutoPIPE's Rotating Equipment module to assess the pump loads.

If the pump manufacturer specifies allowable loads, these can be defined into either the Reference Point loads or the Rotating Equipment module as a User-defined component.

After the analysis, both the Reference Point loads report and Rotating Equipment module report will evaluate all load combinations to determine if they meet the recommended allowable limits. In cases where the nozzle does not meet the criteria, the term "FAIL" is displayed next to the failed value in the report, as highlighted in red below.
