Overview
The application crashes because it cannot process the Project.mdb file. The file has become corrupted, specifically disrupting the linked tables that connect the Access database to the main SQL Server Database.
· Actual:
· Expected:
To fix this issue, the corrupted SQL table links within the Project.mdb file need to be cleared and rebuilt. Follow the steps below to safely restore the database file and get Data Manager running again.
Steps to Resolve
1. Go to your problematic project folder location and open the Project.mdb file. For example, the default location of projects is located in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Plant V8i\%PROJECT_ROOT%\%PROJECT_NAME%\ProjData
2. Open the Project.mdb file using Access
3. In the All Access Objects window, select a table and right-click to open the Linked Table Manager
4. Tick the SQL Data Source Name and Edit
5. Copy the text in the Connection String and paste it in a Notepad
6. Close the Project.mdb
7. Go to a working project that uses SQL as datasource for the project database and create a duplicate of its Project.mdb file
8. In the duplicate Project.mdb file, repeat steps 2-4 and replace the Connection String from the one copied in step 5
9. Save the new Connection String
10. Overwrite the Project.mdb file in step 1 with the duplicate Project.mdb file from step 7. Remember to rename it to Project.mdb.
It should be noted that the Views (which contains query) may disappear as the Project.mdb file that you copied contains a different set of Views.
(optional) To retain the Views you may have from your original project, you can do the following:
1. Package the project using Project Packager - OpenPlant - How to Package and Unpackage AutoPLANT Project - Communities
2. Once done, unpackage it and set it up to connect to a new SQL Database
