Background
In OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, the user needs to confirm whether isometric drawings can be generated using local or auxiliary coordinate systems instead of always referencing the global coordinate system, to avoid large coordinate values and skewed output. Model elements are located far from the global origin and at various angles, resulting in very large XYZ values and skewed isometrics. Isometrics are always generated relative to the model’s global coordinate system, regardless of active local or auxiliary coordinate systems.

Steps to Accomplish

1. Set up the Design Settings in the Seed file by following the given values in the Working Units.

2. Click Edit in the Advanced Settings. Follow the given values.

3. Place the components far from the origin.

4. In Drawing Aids tab, select Manage ACS.

5. Click on Define ACS (By Points). Select the two points to define the X and Y.

6. Create a new ACS. Add a name (ex: Grid_ACS).

7. Turn ON the ACS Plane Lock.

8. Rotate the view to TOP. Observe that the components and aligned horizontally and vertically.

9. Select Column Grids.

10. Add the Orthogonal and rename it (ex: Grid1). Fill out the X and Y values based on the ACS. Click Create/Update Grid Models and OK once done.

11. Click on Reference and add attachment.

12. Attach GridModels.dgn and select Grid1 for the Model.

13. Reopen Grid Systems and Reference. Add rotation value (ex: 45 deg). Click Create/Update and OK. In Reference, click on the pencil icon to update the model.

14. The grid lines will be aligned properly.

15.  Add the following values in Gridlines.txt. Take note that GRID1 is the name from Grid Systems.

16. Make IE_COORD_OUTPUT = 2 to achieve output coordinate label in column line reference.

17. Generate the isometrics to verify the result. Compare the end-to-end coordinates of the pipes.
