Answer:
This error occurs when a vessel is initially created with support type "Vessel on Skirt" and then convert to support type "Brackets" followed by deleting the skirt. In AutoPIPE Vessel, the support type is a fundamental property that is fixed at the time of vessel creation.

As an example, a vessel on Skirt or Bracket are treated as different vessel types, with different assumptions for:
-
- Load paths
- Stress calculations
- Code compliance checks
Changing the support type from "Vessel on Skirt" to "Bracket" after creation is not supported. Only the following support-type changes are supported in AutoPIPE Vessel:
-
-
-
- ✅ Legs ↔ Brackets
- ✅ Saddles ↔ Legs / Brackets
Otherwise, the Model will remain as originally created (ex. "Vessel on a skirt") according to the internal settings. In this example, removing the skirt has only "corrupted" the model.
Workaround:
To avoid or resolve Error 695, use one of the following workarounds: (assuming "Vessel on skirt" was selected during creation)
Option #1:
Recreate the vessel with the correct support type:
- Start a new vessel model.
- Select Vertical Vessel on Skirt with Anchoring during the initial creation process.
- Re-enter all geometry, material, load, and design data.
Option #2:
Try the following:
-
-
- Open Insert> Support> "Support Type" Dialog
- Select Bracket

-
-
- Click Ok button.
- This action will change the type of the vessel from "Vessel on skirt" to "Brackets"
- Then reopen the "Brackets" Dialog
- Select "Anchor"

Option #3:
Send model to Bentley technical support for evaluation and possible fix the model using development tools and methods.
