Question:
How Do I create a 1" piping from a 16" piping?
Another words, the piping in the model is all 16" dia. and the Engineering change order wants the piping to be changed to 1" dia, what options are available to
Answer:
There are 3 options to make a this modification to a model.
Options #1: start a new model and only using 1" pipe... :>)
Suggest to using option 2 or 3
Option #2: Update the Pipe ID
Open the pipe property to is being used for the 16" dia pipe.
Example:
Change the nominal dia to 1", and update any other fields on the dialog below the tag as needed for the new pipe size (Mill tol, Corr Allow, etc..)
Update the Tag information to reflect the new pipe size.
Select OK on the dialog
On the input grids, select the Pipe Properties tab, place cursor in the PipeID description field and change from "16shc40" to "1sch40",
Select any other grid location to accept the change.
Done.
Option #3: Insert a new PipeID and modify a selection using Pipe Properties Over Range
Insert a new PipeID with correct properties for the new pipe (ex. 1sch40)
Use anyone of the multitude selection commands available in AutoPIPE to highlight the piping that will be changed from one pipe ID to another (ex. updated from 16" to 1")
After selecting the pipe RED, choose command: Pipe Properties Over Range (Modify > Properties > Pipe Properties Over Range).
The Pipe Properties dialog will appear with a No PipeID selected.
Select the new PipeID from the dropdown listing (ex. 1sch40)
Presto, all the pipe that was red will now be updated to the new PipeID selected (ex. 1sch40).
