Why is the MDMT calculation not available in the report for certain materials?

Question

Why are MDMT (Minimum Design Metal Temperature) calculations missing in the report for specific materials?
For example, the report shows that MDMT is calculated for the shell material P355NL1, but not for the nozzle material A48AP.

Answer

The MDMT calculation is skipped when the Reference Temperature for a selected material is not defined.
This temperature is required to perform MDMT calculations, and if it is missing, the software automatically excludes that material from the calculation table.

In the material database supplied with AutoPIPE Vessel, reference temperatures are included only where this information is available from the corresponding design codes or material standards.

Shell Material (P355NL1)

The reference temperature is available in the EN 10028‑3 standard, so AutoPIPE Vessel performs the MDMT calculation for the shell.

Nozzle Material (A48AP)

The reference temperature is not provided in the database.
Because of this missing value, AutoPIPE Vessel cannot perform the MDMT calculation for the nozzle unless the user defines the reference temperature manually.

How to Add Reference Temperature for Nozzle Material

If you know the correct value, you can assign the reference temperature using the steps below:

      1. Open the Nozzle Properties dialog.
      2. Go to the Material tab.
      3. Click General Properties.
      4. Select Add Property.
      5. In the Add Property list, choose Ref. Temperature.
      6. Enter the correct reference temperature for the nozzle material.
      7. Choose right unit system.
      8. Click OK to save.

Once this value is defined, the MDMT calculation will appear in the report for that nozzle.
