How to view and edit users


Purpose

This article explains how admins can view and edit user details using the user detail view on the Bentley Admin portal (manage.bentley.com). The interface is organized into multiple tabs, each providing access to specific user information and settings. This new experience is in limited availability and further users will be given access as functionality is extended. If you do not have access to manage.bentley.com please refer to the User and Entitlement Management documentation.

 

Who can do this

Only admin users with permission to view and edit user details.

 

Steps-by-Step Instructions

1. Open the user detail view

  • From the user table, select a user’s name or row to open their profile.
  • This will display a page with multiple tabs: Account information, Permissions, Assigned licenses, Checked out licenses and Security.

 

Profile overview

  • Displays the user’s basic information including:
    • full name
    • email address
    • department
    • contact information
  • Admins can edit these fields directly in this tab.
  • Use the save button to apply changes.

Account information

  • Shows account and job information for the user
  • Shows a list of the users account administrators
  • Admins can:

Edit account information (excluding the Account name)

Permissions tab

  • Lists all permissions configured for the user.
  • Admins can:
    • Edit the entitlement country
    • View groups are assigned to the user
    • View roles assigned to the user

Assigned licenses tab

  • Shows all licenses currently assigned to the user.
  • Admins can:
    • view license type and status
    • revoke or reassign licenses
    • initiate new license assignments
    • check out licenses for offline use

  • Displays a list of licenses checked out to the user for offline use
  • Admins can:
    • Check licenses back in
    • Download licensing files

Security tab

  • Displays a user’s security preferences
  • View application login aliases (if enabled on the account)
  • Admins can:
    • Edit application login aliases

Note: only a non-federated user can reset their own password

 
  

Tips

  • Always click save after making changes in any tab.
  • After assigning a license, you have 24 hours to reassign the license before it is locked for 30 days
