Occurrence

SLOPE/W excludes soil nails and anchors from the solver if they have been placed within the passive zone of the sliding mass and installed at an angle of less than 90 degrees relative to the direction of movement.

Resolution

The reinforcement load from a soil nail or soil anchor is not included in a SLOPE/W analysis if the reinforcement intersects a slip surface within the passive zone of the sliding mass and the installation angle is less than 90 degrees from the direction of movement.  The passive zone is determined based on the slice base angle and the direction of movement. Slices with a positive (+) base angle are deemed within the passive zone in a left-to-right analysis, while slices with a negative (-) base angle are deemed within the passive zone for a right-to-left analysis.
