CONNECT Upgrade to Infrastructure Cloud

Introduction

As part of our ongoing efforts to create the best user experience across the entire lifecycle through Bentley Infrastructure Cloud, we are consolidating our portals into only one – Bentley Infrastructure Cloud.

By accessing all your projects and data from a single location, you will gain new capabilities and more integrated and collaborative workflows across design, build and operate phases, resulting in more successful project delivery outcomes.

This is why we allow Project Owners and CONNECT Administrator to Upgrade CONNECT projects to Infrastructure Cloud Projects.

Before you start upgrading your CONNECT projects

There are several things you need to know before you start the upgrade process:

Entitlements / Licenses

CONNECT projects do not check for entitlements. When users access a CONNECT project they will record a Bentley Infrastructure Cloud Connect usage when using the different services, as Share, ProjectWise Web Connections, Deliverables Management, Project Insights, Issues, Forms or Component Center.

Infrastructure Cloud Projects take advantage of Bentley Infrastructure Cloud Connect and Bentley Infrastructure ProjectWise entitlements, which not only will give the users access to Infrastructure Cloud Projects, but also define the maximum set of permissions.

Important

Bentley’s policy is to set the Default Access configured at the Entitlement/Licenses Management service for every application as Allowed, meaning all users in an Organization are allowed to use any Entitlement/License.

If Everyone is granted access to Bentley Infrastructure Cloud Connect and Bentley Infrastructure Clooud ProjectWise, all users who access a Bentley Infrastructure Cloud project in their organization (or an external project that is setup with Bring Your Own License), will consume a Bentley Infrastructure Cloud ProjectWise entitlement disregarding the role assigned at the project level

To know more about Entitlements – please read this article.

As Best Practice, you should always check if Bentley Infrastructure Cloud Connect and Bentley Infrastructure Cloud ProjectWise entitlements have been Allowed/Denied for users in your organization to prevent incuring excess costs.

To know how to configure Entitlements – please read this article.

Entitlements / Permissions

In CONNECT, Permissions/Restrictions must be set by Roles.

In Infrastructure Cloud, Bentley Infrastructure Cloud Connect and Bentley Infrastructure Cloud ProjectWise entitlements will define the maximum set of permissions users will have when they access the project. Permissions can be restricted further using Roles, but you cannot grant permissions higher than the entitlement allows.

Who can Upgrade CONNECT projects?

Account Admins, CONNECT Service Administrators or Project Owners can upgrade CONNECT projects to Infrastructure Cloud Projects using the single project upgrade.

Account Admins and CONNECT Service Administrators can use the Bulk project upgrade to upgrade up to 1000 CONNECT projects at once
