Issue Summary
Users may encounter errors or timeouts when attempting to upload large files (e.g., over 2GB) to BCDE. These issues are often related to upload duration limits, bandwidth, network speed or system configuration.
Common Symptoms
- Upload fails after a long wait (e.g., 30–40 minutes)
- Error messages such as “Internal Server Error” or timeout alerts
- Upload appears to complete but fails during final processing
- Upload works on other platforms (e.g., BIC) but not in BCDE
Key Technical Limitation
BCDE has a 30-minute timeout limit for any single action, including file uploads.
If the upload takes longer than 30 minutes, BCDE will automatically cancel the request, regardless of file size or progress.
This timeout is a security feature designed to protect servers from long-running requests and potential denial-of-service attacks.
Recommended Solutions
- Split Large Files
-
- Break files into smaller parts (e.g., under 4GB) to ensure each part uploads within the 30-minute window.
- Use compression tools like ZIP or RAR if needed.
- Improve Upload Speed
-
- Use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi.
- Avoid uploading during peak network usage hours.
- Ensure your upload speed is at least 50 Mbps to reliably upload a 10GB file within 30 minutes.
