Question:
When analyzing a model in AutoPIPE Vessel the following warning number was reported.
580 SADDLE No. 1: this saddle is not located on a cylindrical shell (30.24).
Why and how to avoid it?
Answer:
This is a cautionary message to inform the user that the saddle is positioned on the cone section.
When a saddle is mounted on a cone, APV treats the geometry as a cylinder for calculation purposes, using an equivalent diameter measured at the saddle location. This approach is adopted because current design codes do not provide alternative methods for such configurations.
It is the user's responsibility to assess the validity of the results, especially considering that the lower portion of the cone closely resembles a cylindrical shape.
