Error in writing DB file... message appears when using AutoPIPE
Problem:
The following message appears when using AutoPIPE:
Export Input Data
------------------------------
Error in writing DB file
------------------------------
OK
why
Solution:
There can be a num ber of reasons why this message appeared:
Reason #1:
This is not a model / DAT file corruption issue. This is a known issue that has been logged (1612425) and will be fixed in a future version of the software (scheduled for AutoPIPE 2025 update 1).
Reason #2:
If a model contains more than one user defined or ANSI wind load cases, the input database export fails to generate, and an error message is shown. Only workaround, define only 1 User defined or ANSI Wind load case in a model.
Reason #3:
Check Soil properties, there could be an issue where K1 or P1 values were set to Zero thus causing the calculated Yield Displacement to be -nan (Not a Number) as indicated below.
There is a known modeling technique for representing the absence of soil in a particular direction, indicating that neither K1 nor P1 values should be set to Zero. It is preferable to input a minuscule value to be effectively Zero (e.g., K1 and P1 = 0.001).
