iTwin Map View - Private EAP Release Notes

EAP Version 1.0

Introduction

The 3D iModel viewer (Design Review) integration with the new Geospatial Cesium with the existing iModel graphics engines enhances visualization capabilities and enables seamless interaction between different styles, views, and scenes.

This is called the iTwin Map View (Current WIP Name) and aims to address user challenges by providing a centralized platform that reduces wasted time, missed work, and frustration, ultimately leading to increased profitability. Bentley Systems aims to improve the Infrastructure Cloud by reducing task engagement and information retrieval time.

This tool is designed for users managing multiple assets or projects, including contractor programme managers, estate/asset managers, and designers on multiple Projects/Assets.

New Features

User Interface

We have redesigned the user interface to provide a more intuitive and visually appealing experience:

• Modern Design: Moving forward and introducing new User Interface framework elements, including : 

• • iTwin Browser – Left-hand layer style control of the available iTwins Content.
  • Info Panel - Right-hand slide-out displays information contained in the iTwins, such as media index and property info.

• Simplified Interface:
  • Streamline functionality to support portfolio review workflows, with the ability to dive into the iModels with the existing iMVF (Design Review) tools
• Portfolio Project View:
  • Display information from multiple iTwins, iModels, PlanSets and Forms

 

Architectural Improvements

Significant enhancements have been made in this EAP release, including:

• Cesium Ion Engine: 

• • Cesium Ion tiles supports massive high-resolution 3D content delivered into 3D Tiles for optimized and efficient streaming over the web.

 

• Multi-iTwin Data viewing: Supporting Bentley objects in the rendered model area:
• • Project Boundaries (Shown by default)
  • iModels
  • PlanSets
  • Media-indexed photos 
  • Form markers
  • Project/iTwin markers

 

• Cesium layers:
  • Cesium world Terrain (Default)
  • Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles
  • Cesium OSM Buildings for CWB

 

Features and Functionalities

We have the following functionalities to enhance the overall capabilities of the software:

• Widgets:
  • Repository Tree/Layers panel.
    • iModels
    • PlanSets
    • Reality Data
  • Forms (Read and respond only)
  • The right-hand info panel flyout includes:
    • Property Grid for element property information
    • iTwin Info widget
    • Media index info widget

 

• Supported Controls
  • Single selection of elements
  • Cesium default navigation controls
  • Home button to zoom out to all iTwins
