Problem Description

We have added new standard Steel Shape and its property in mdb but its weight not matching with value we have entered in the mdb is 49.32 kg/m but it is shown in Shape property is 50.2624 kg/m

Steps to resolve

Enter methods to resolve in this section.

1. Hold Right Click on an open area in the view and select Options.

2. Go to Values and set the Spec Weight Steel to 7850.

3. Place the new shape with steel material selected or open Structural Properties of the existing shape, go to Partlist Data > Data and here select any steel material and re-verify the weight value.

Now, when we check the weight value of the section, it will match the exact value (49.32) what we have entered in the mdb file.

NOTE: In the ProStructuresMaterial.mdb file the specific weight of the steel material value is defined as 7850. So, when we set the same value in the ProSteel Options then we will get the exact same weight value in the properties.
