Template Library – Single Database Solution

The Template Library is the feature of 4D Analytics that allows users to manage, create, and replicate changes within templates. A template is a collection of containers, points, and attributes that can be created once and replicated many times throughout a user’s hierarchy/structure; these templates allow users to introduce new calculations to, or change calculations in, asset templates.

The Template Library is accessed from the Assets Menu.

The Template Library is made up of the TreeView Navigator and the Selection Tool.

When you first login to a new org that has not yet been configured, the tree view will consist of the top-level organisation container.

The TreeView Navigator, on the left, is where we build up our structure. What you see in this section is static. Items will only be removed from here when they are deleted. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Use the Selection Tool to build up a group of points for various configuration or viewing options. This is just a view. If a point is removed from here, then it will still exist in the tree view. If users regularly work with the same sets of points, the selection group can be saved and reloaded.

Click the Replication Manager icon to access the Replication Queue or the Replication Audit.

Use the Tree Manager to create new structures in the asset hierarchy,

The array of icons presented on the Toolbar will vary depending on what permissions the user has enabled. Permissions are set on the group to which the user the user belongs; this is done in Administration>Groups.

The Display Full Path box is checked by default and presents the full path (including point name) in the Data Point Selection column of the grid. Remove the check from the box to display the point name only.

Check the Display GUIDs box to include the unique identification number of each point in the Selection grid.

Note: Use a GUID or partial GUID with the Find Points feature to locate points or containers in the TreeView Navigator.

The Date column shares the same date formatting options as the Data Workbook. The default is set from the Web Config Date Format for the Data Workbook, which can be overridden on an individual user basis by setting the Date Format Type within the Data Workbook options.
