Error code 420 - LOCAL LOADS (xxx): [XXXX], a load exceeds the maximum allowable value.

Question:

When analyzing a model in AutoPIPE Vessel the following Error number was reported.

420    LOCAL LOADS (lug): [XXX], a load exceeds the maximum allowable value.

Why and how to avoid it?

Answer:

First, produce a complete output report and proceed to the section pertaining to the problematic component mentioned by the error message within the report. Look for any text colored in red and determine the necessary corrections. Clues to what needs to be addressed are typically shown in the preceding sections of the report, where further text may also be marked in red. Adjust the component or settings in the model until the error message no longer displays.

Example:

The following error message was displayed

420    LOCAL LOADS (lug): [EN 13445-3 16.7], a load exceeds the maximum allowable value.

In the Lifting Accessories section of the report, under Local Loads Due to Lifting Lugs,

a. Find the initial red text:  "the actual load exceeds the maximum allowable load."

b. Review previous text for additional red text to indicate what needs to be addressed.

Problem: Fr > Frmax, or the lifting load FR = 9,808 lbf > allowable load FR,max = 6,351 lbf

Modify the settings in AutoPIPE Vessel's model that have a direct impact on calculating the allowable load FR,max (ex. material selection, changes to Lug dimensions, etc..).
