Question:
When analyzing a model in AutoPIPE Vessel the following Error number was reported.
758 NOZZLE xx: values beyond table limits (xxxx).
Why and how to avoid it?
Answer:
Generate report based on the element mention in the warning message.
Example:
For warning message, 758 NOZZLE N1: values beyond table limits (API 650), generate report for Isolated Opening N1.
Review report for any text in Red or text under a report section indicating a problem. Then review the applicable code for requirements.
Examples:
Scenario #1:
The applicable code is API650, W was calculated to be less than B, when W should be greater than B.
Values of W:
Nozzle: Min space between weld toes W = 2.367 in
Pad: Min space between weld toes W = 2.367 in
Value of B:
B or C = 3.0 in
See Code reference Fig 5.6 for details on this dimension.
Scenario #2:
Again, the applicable code is API650, review the code to understand which value is beyond the limits of Table 5.6.
Avoidance
Change the model as needed to such that the value are in compliance with the code requirements (ex. W>- B)
Example:
1. Move nozzle location
2. Increase / decrease the Maximum plate thickness on Tank properties dialog.
3. Etc...
Notes:
There is a known issue with this warning (1626155 - API 650 - US units - Table 5.3b is wrongly converted). If the model is in "US" unit, then the height considered to enter from table 5.3b was wrongly converted. The height is converted from mm to feet instead of inches to feet,
This was fixed in AutoPIPE Vessel 46.00.00.xx and higher.
