India Workspace:Compatibility with ORD 2024, Version 24.00.00.205 and later

Introduction

We’re excited to announce the release of the India KIT 2024 for OpenRoads Designer, tailored specifically to enhance the Design & 3D Modelling of Highways as per Indian standards. This release introduces Traffic Signs and Pavement Marking tools following Indian Roads Congress (IRC) standards, making it easier than ever for designers to create accurate, standards-compliant roadway designs and streamline the traffic management planning process.

Instructions

Summary of India Workspace Features for this Release:

1. Traffic Signs as per IRC 67:2022: With the latest IRC 67-2022 guidelines, this release features 254 traffic signs, categorized into Regulatory, Warning, and Informative signs (Plates I-IV) based on IRC specifications.

2. Pavement Marking as per IRC 35:2015: Based on IRC 35-2015, the kit includes 141 pavement marking styles, covering Longitudinal, Transverse, Hazard, Block, Arrow, Directional, and Facility markings

3. Civil Labeller: Newly included in India KIT 2024, Civil Labeller enhances Plan, Profile, and Cross Section drawings.

4. Contour Annotation: A specialized 3D annotation style for terrain models allows users to clearly label contours, streamlining the development of contour plans within OpenRoads Designer.

5. Curve Table Annotation: This enhanced annotation tool allows users to annotate both simple curves (without transitions) and complex curve sets with transitions in one go, addressing the limitations of the previous India KIT workspace.

6. Earthwork Side Slope Annotation: A newly developed 3D Plan annotation that enables users to distinguish between Cut and Fill areas in plan views, improving visualization and accuracy in earthwork designs.

7. Camber Annotation: This 3D annotation tool aids users in marking Crossfalls, Roadway width, slope direction, and end elevations at specific chainages along the centreline. This feature is particularly useful in creating precise junction grading plans.

8. Seed: New 2D and 3D seed files have been added, accommodating UTM zones 45N, 46N, and 47N of the WGS84 coordinate system. These cover all geographic regions of India, ensuring spatial accuracy and alignment with the country's mapping requirements.
