How to troubleshoot the following error?

ERROR - GRUP XXX CALLS FOR TAPER BETWEEN DISSIMILAR CROSS-SECTIONS

To understand the root cause, let us derive a small single beam element for a walk through purpose and similar error message was returned by SACS when I put a run for the following member.

 

The error was referring to "dissimilar cross section at either side of tapered beams".

When checked, it was found the section type of either side of the tapered beams is wide flange and plate girder.

In my next run, I changed the wide flange section into a plate girder section and this time, since both the cross section types at either end of the tapered beam are identical, SACS execute the analysis without any error.

So, it is recommended to covert the cross-section types into either wide flange or plate girders, especially when they are connected to tapered section.

Thus, the error can be tackled.
