Back to Product Wiki

The Readings Tab of the Vibration tool allows you to visualize vibration data via scatterplot or bar column graphs. This article will guide you in navigating to this tool and show you the available functions and configurations.

Navigating to the Vibration Readings Tab

1. The Vibration tools are located within the Data Module. To begin, click the Data Module icon on the left-side selection bar. This will expose another layer of tools selection bar to the right of the Modules bar.

2. Click on Vibration to navigate to the Vibration tool.

3. The next page shows an auto-populated list of all vibration sensors added to the asset that are compatible with the Vibration Tool. Clicking the name of one of these sensors will take you to the Readings Tab of the Vibration Tool. The following sections will cover the graph display options available in the Readings Tab.

Choosing between Scatterplot and Stacked Bar Graphs

If you've followed the workflow above, you will now be in the Scatterplot Graph of the Readings tab, shown below. This graph will have two sets of data point, There are two graph options for Vibration data, Scatterplot and Stacked Bar, which can be toggled using the buttons circled in red. These graphs will be discussed in detail below.

Using Scatterplot Graph

If you've followed the workflow above, you will now be in the Scatterplot Graph of the Readings tab, shown below. The numbers in the image below will guide you in learning the function of the various parts of the graph.

1. Data Time Selection- The time selection bar allows you to visualize data over a specific timeframe. There are default options from 1 hour to 1 year as well as a Clock icon that can be selected to visualize a custom time range for your data.

2. Y-Axis Units- The Peak Particle Velocity metric units on the Y-axis can be changed via the dropdown selection above the graph. The available units include both metric and imperial units.

3. Image Download- The kebab icon opens a selection bar allowing you to download the graph as a png, svg, jpg, or pdf file.

4. Alert Thresholds- This sidebar shows all alerts configured for the selected sensor. This sidebar allows you to turn on these alerts to show their thresholds on the graph. To show an alert on the graph simply click the eye-ball icon to the right of the alert name. To turn it off, click the icon again. The image below provides an example of the graph with an alert turned on, showing the alert threshold shaded in red.

5. Datapoint Selection- There are two sets of data points visible on the graph, the X, Y, and Z axis datapoints and the X, Y, and Z Event datapoints. Their behavior will differ depending on the datapoint type.

The second way to interact with these Event datapoints is to click on the datapoint. This will open a large window, example below, with graphs and metadata for the event.

6. Axis and Event Filtering- Interacting with the Legend at the bottom of the graph allows you to hide sets of datapoints from the graph by click on the name. The datapoints will be removed from the graph and the name in the legend will be greyed out.
