This example is based on Primer 72 and also similar to A1. MOMENT-HINGE EXAMPLE (WITH ADINA USER INTERFACE) step-by-step process.

However, subtle modifications have been applied. The geometry now includes short lines which allow to place the Link Elements (Moment Hinges) in an inner position within beams.

The tutorial is presented in three videos:

• Part I - Frame Structure Modeling: We show how to create a steel frame using beam elements. We model coincident (unmerged) nodes where we will subsequently place our plastic moment hinges using Link Elements (shown in Part II).
• Part II - Including Link Elements (Moment Hinges): We show and explain how to use Link Elements to model plastic moment hinges. We create the moment hinges between each pair of coincident nodes defined in Part I.
• Part III - Obtaining Results: We show how to plot Base Shear-Top Displacement and plastic hinge Moment-Rotation curves and export these data to spreadsheet or txt format.
