The following message appears in AutoPIPE Vessel, how to avoid it?
746 FATIGUE (Weld xx): Check material chemical properties.
As mentioned by the error text, there is a problem with the chemical composition of the materials at the weld location.
Example:
In this case, the welded materials were SA240GR316 and SA240GR316L. When reviewing the Fatigue Analysis sub report, notice the values for ncss and Kcss are Zero.
The program is referencing Table 3-D.2M from the code and cannot determine these values.
AutoPIPE Vessel Development is limited to implementing the regulations outlined in the code. We are just as confused as anyone else regarding the omission of certain materials from this chapter by the governing body. We are currently anticipating the release of a new code that will encompass all materials not presently included in table 3-D.2.
For the components under consideration, one may consider selecting a material that is already listed in table 3-D.2. However, it is important to note that the choice of materials for these components may be dictated by the specific project documentation.
Alternatively, one could also consider modifying the chemical properties of the components to align more closely with a similar material within the same category found in table 3-D.2. This adjustment would only affect the fatigue calculations, potentially providing a reasonable estimate of fatigue. However, it is essential to acknowledge the associated risk of non-compliance with the code in doing so.
