Problem:

 

I am facing the BBES Configuration write access error message when attempting to load electrical. While trying to follow the KB article for trouble shooting this problem, I cannot find the desired folders named Metadata and Symlibs. How can I resolve the issue?

 

Solution:

 

If you have installed OpenBuildings Designer with default configurations then these folders should be located inside the dataset folder. For example, if you are using the NM dataset, then you should be able to find the folders Metadata and Symlibs at location C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings 2024\Configuration\Datasets\Dataset_NM\.

 

The folders are missing from that location indicates that the installation of OpenBuildings Designer was not done properly due to some reason which might prevent OpenBuildings Designer from functioning properly.

 

Hence, it is recommended to perform a clean re-installation of OpenBuildings Designer.
