OpenRoads SignCAD supports side-by-side installation. This means you can have a previous version of SignCAD installed on the same machine, and without uninstalling it, you can install another SignCAD version on the same machine. You simply chose the version you wish to run. The new OpenRoads SignCAD version is installed into a new directory.
Here are the OpenRoads SignCAD default directory install locations:
32-bit versions:
C:\OpenRoads SignCAD
64-bit versions:
C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads SignCAD 2023.00
C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads SignCAD 2024.00
C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads SignCAD 2025.00
The benefits of side-by-side installation include the ability to have multiple versions of the software on the same machine, either for the purpose of testing the new releases or for being able to work on different projects using different versions of the software (perhaps compliance with project mandates).
it is recommended to save the files used with each version into separate folders since files created or upgraded in the newer versions (2023, 2024 & 2025) are not backwards compatible with previous versions (i.e. you will not be able to open a SGN file created/upgraded in a newer SignCAD version in an older SignCAD version). OpenRoads SignCAD does not support downgrading sign files.
Sign files created in older SignCAD versions can be opened in newer versions and upgraded. A warning message is shown and a back-up file is created when opening older version files in a newer release.
