Why Modulus of Elasticity values are not matching with code (CODAP, Table C1.6.5)?
Modulus of elasticity values given in Table C1.6.5 are not applicable for the external pressure design. For external pressure design it shall be taken from the applicable materials chart given in code section C4.
For example:
Material : SA240GR316L
Vacuum curve : C4-12
Design Temperature : 60 degree C
From above figure, for temperature 40C Modulus of Elasticity (E) is 193000 MPa. Similarly for temperature 150C Modulus of Elasticity (E) is 182000 MPa.
So, if we interpolate it for design temperature 60C then we will get the Modulus of Elasticity values as 191000 MPa.
