How to Transfer Devices and Sensors Between Threads


Overview 

When replacing a Thread it is important to use the Transfer function to move devices and sensors that are wired to an old Thread to your new Thread. Transferring a device will retain and move all historical data points to the replacement Thread. This article will review the Transfer Device process.

Transferring All Devices or Sensors From a Thread 

To transfer a device or sensor to a new Thread you will need to first navigate to the connectivity page in the Sensemetrics application. 

1. Find and select the Thread that you would like to transfer devices from within the connections column in the connectivity page. 

2. Select "Edit Configuration" in the lefthand column of options. 

3. Click on the kebob icon on the top right side of the Edit Configuration page and select "Transfer Devices". 

4. Select the Thread that you would like to transfer your devices to. 

5. Select the port that the device is plugged into on the new Thread. 

6. Click on the Transfer button to complete the transfer. 

 

Transferring a Device or Sensor to a Thread

7. Select the sensor that you would like to Transfer to another Thread. 

8. Select "Edit Configuration" on the lefthand column of the sensor page. 

9. Click on the kebob icon on the top right side of the Edit Configuration page and select "Transfer".

10. Select the Thread you would like to transfer the Device or Sensor to 

11. Select the Port that the Device or Sensor is plugged into on the new Thread

12. Click the Transfer button to transfer the Device or Sensor. 

 

Transferring a Legacy Sensor or Device 

Some Edit Configuration pages will have a different layout than the one mentioned above. If you see an Edit Configuration page like the image below, you can Transfer Devices using the button highlighted.
