Next Steps with OpenGround

This is the last of your OpenGround onboarding messages. You can find the first ones here and here.  As with the other emails there something you now need to Check to ensure you are where you should be and something to Progress to keep you moving forward.  There is also something to Advance which you may wish to do now or leave a little later.

Check: Learning Resources

In the previous email we introduced the Seequent LMS (Learning Management System).  Ideally, you’ll have taken the steps to ensure that you have access.  If not, please do this now even if you don’t have an opportunity to review the materials contained there at this stage.

We also indicated the need to take a look at the onboarding guide on that platform as the next essential step to take:

You should have already reviewed these materials.

Finally, we also recommended reviewing the configuration pack guides to gain familiarity with the default component content.

Progress: Guidance Check In

Our Professional Services team can offer some limited guidance to assist you further.  If you have completed the preceding steps in this series of messages, including the ‘OpenGround System Management…’ course (see below), within one month you are eligible for an individual one hour consultation with a member of team.  To request a meeting please email ProfessionalServices.GIM@bentley.com with your organization name in the title, using the prefix ‘Onboarding Signposting’.

Although prioritizing onboarding is key to allowing your organization to get the most out of OpenGround we understand that not everyone will be able to go through the necessary steps within a month.  For those who need longer we invite you to attend one of our regular guidance clinics where you can join others involved in onboarding and raise any queries.  To sign up please email ProfessionalServices.GIM@bentley.com with your organization name in the title, using the prefix ‘Onboarding Clinic’.

Advance: Facilitated Online Learning and Support Resources

As mentioned above, we introduced the Seequent Learning Management System (LMS) in the last email.  You may find the ‘OpenGround System Management…’ sequence of courses to be of particular interest.  These review and expand upon the techniques you’ll have applied from the Onboarding Guide.  Click on ‘Catalogue’, scroll down the page to the ‘Category’ drop-down, specify ‘OpenGround’ and ‘Apply’:

Scroll down the ‘OpenGround System Management…’ sequence of courses.  Note that they are easily identifiable from the ‘Advanced’ tag.

We hope that you’ve found these messages helpful for moving forward with your OpenGround onboarding.  Of course, they are aimed at those who are managing the system and potentially evolving the resources users will be working with.

End users of the system can also find valuable structured learning materials on the learning management system which you can direct them towards.  In particular, they are likely to benefit from the ‘OpenGround…FOL…’ materials.  More information is available here:

The Facilitated Online Learning (FOL) courses also give users the option to attend workshops, giving an opportunity to apply their skills and apply what they have learnt.

Additionally, both you and your users are likely to find our numerous support resources helpful.  In particular, you may wish to bookmark our wiki landing pages as signpost for accessing them.  Your users may find this one particularly helpful while you, as a system administrator, are likely to find the range of resources available here more useful.

These resources include our Communities page where any queries can be raised.  We also encourage you to follow our ‘OpenGround Geotechnical Information Management’ LinkedIn group.  In particular, you’ll find out about our Ground to Cloud update webinars and so keep up to date with all the latest developments.

Finally, we hope that you have found these messages helpful.  We are continually looking to improve our service and as such would value your feedback.  Please take just a few moments to complete this survey.

Thank you for working through your onboarding process and moving your organisation forward.  You may have ideas as to how you might continue to evolve your use of OpenGround and we’d love to hear about how you get on!
