Problem:
The following warning message appears in AutoPIPE Vessel when executing an analysis, why?
417: Nozzle M2: Insufficient Reinforcement
Solution:
This is normal behavior of the software, In this case user is designing the vessel with Checked Design Method.
It means software will give you the results with given inputs and will not change any input parameters.
In this case you have to enter the sufficient and valid input for the results, else it will give you the errors.
Each nozzle opening shall qualify in the reinforcement check as per UG-37. We need to add the reinforcement material at the nozzle location.
We have following options to add the reinforcing material at nozzle opening,
1. Add the reinforcement pad
2. Increase the thickness of nozzle neck
3. Increase the shell thickness
User has to choose the appropriate option or group of option mentioned above to add the reinforcement material.
For Example : Nozzle N1
Nozzle N1 is designed as long weld neck and with this Required reinforcement area is higher than available area.
Question: How is the required thickness calculated for this check under UG-37?
Answer: Refer to the output report, Isolated Opening> select opening tag (ex. M2)> sub-section "Reinforcement Checking (code section, ex. UG-37), refer to line in report with variable tr, the code section used for the calculation of tr will be given (ex. [UG-27(c)] ).
We suggest to change the reinforcement type to RF Pad with below given inputs and you can see the results are fine without any error for Nozzle N1.
Also keep in mind to remove any limit on participating length for the shell and nozzle in the reinforcement calculation.
