Problem
MicroStation has started displaying pop ups about the software being idle and will be shutdown.

Solution
The first thing to check is if the configuration variable MS_IDLETIMEOUT has been set, so:
Open Workspaces menu\Configuration and check what value has this variable.
This variable is normally set to avoid having MicroStation open for long periods of time without working with the product in order to avoid over usage (QTL).
Please review this link to Wiki article:
This variable is set by default as undefined.
If the value is different, you can reset value as 0 by pressing the Edit button and provide new value 0.
Once these changes are done save changes
Close MicroStation down and reopen MicroStation again in order for MicroStation to read the new value for the configuration variable. Otherwise, you can delete directly the configuration variable MS_IDLETIMEOUT by clicking the delete button, press ok and save all the changes and again close MicroStation and reopen it again.
The variable will be still there but not defined by user (level undefined).
If MicroStation keeps displaying the pop up and shutdown, please double check with your IT department to see if they are using any third party application to restrict licenses as described in this article:
Bentley Calendar Hour Control
or also any other third parties in this area:
Strategies For Limiting Usage
If this is the case please contact the third party company as their software has a setting to regulate or extend this idle time out if needed.
