Problem Description

Files that contain links to PDF files do not work when published to i-model. The link icon changes from a PDF icon to a MicroStation icon

Steps to Resolve

Try the following;

1. In the Publish i-model(s) dialog box, expand the Publish Settings section
2. Disable or untick the option 'Publish Linked Design Files'
3. Click on Publish

When the generated i-model is opened, check if the link to the pdf works. The reason the link would not work is that if it is not a dgn file, the linked files will not be published. See the Help contents on 'Settings for Publishing i-models' for more information
