We have a composition file in our managed workspace that includes reference attachments and saved views used for drawing production. But when we now open that file it causes OpenBuilding Designer to immediately revert to the Backstage which we understand is similar to a crash. We've tried using OpenBuidings Designer Microstation mode and exporting the files to open them locally, but the crash still occurs. 

In cases where you cannot directly open a DGN file without OpenBuildings Designer crashing, the following workflow may help:

1. Create a new DGN file using the same working units as the existing files.
2. Reference the file that crashes into this new DGN file.
3. Once attached, choose File > Tools > Compress Options and set the dialog box as shown in the image below to compress both the active file and all reference attachments.

4. Click on the Compress button.
5. Once the compress process is complete, open the References dialog.
6. Right-click on the attachment and choose Exchange.

7. Assuming the file opens normally, choose File > Save Settings and exit OpenBuildings Designer.
