Problem:
How do I optimize and reduce the file size of IFC file using the OpenBuildings Designer?
Solution:
1. In OpenBuildings Designer, there is a tool named IFC Optimization Utility which can be used to optimize or compress and reduce the file size of IFC files. This tool can be accessed from the backstage i.e., File > Utilities > IFC Utilities > IFC Optimization.
2. When clicked on the IFC Optimization button, it opens up Bentley IFC Optimizer window.
3. It simultaneously opens the File Explorer window to browse to the preferred location for choosing the IFC file that needs to be optimized.
4. Then the file needs to be selected and opened in the Bentley IFC Optimizer tool.
Once the required file is opened, another File Explorer window pops up for choosing the right folder path to save the optimized IFC file. The preferred folder location may be selected from here along with providing the appropriate file name.
5. Thus, after saving the optimized IFC file to preferred location, it can be accessed from there.
