Is this Considered an Anchor in AutoPIPE?'
Example: #1
A pipe continues with a fin pipe that extends 2000 mm in the Y direction from the anchor part, Since the fins and frame are welded, the anchor type is specified as rigid as fixed endpoints.
would this be an anchor?
keep in mind that AutoPIPE has a setting for where the user can specify what is to be considered rigid. See settings located at the bottom on the Edit model options dialog.
Anything assigned with a Rigid stiffness will have this amount af stiffness assigned to that bearing spring direction. Example, rigid v-stop support, will have a stiffness of 0.100000E+11 lb/in stiffness in the +ve / - ve vertical directions.
In the case of example #1 above, if the welded pipe and fin supports have a stiffness assumed / calculated to be close to the rigid stiffness value then model as a Rigid. However if the assumed / calculated stiffness value is considerably less than anchor stiffness specified on the dialog, then recommend to model with more accurate stiffness values.
